I have a big huge EPSON color scanner which I bought in the year 2000 at the Pomona Computer Fair.  I don’t remember the price, but it was expensive.

Although I already have a scanner, what I need now is an USB portable scanner which I can bring with me anywhere I go with my laptop, especially if I am traveling to my home country. I have tonnes of old photographs and documents back in
Malaysia, still sitting in the boxes, which I need to organize and scan into digital copies. Some of those photographs are old black and white, once belonged to my mother. She is no longer with us, but her memories will always be.

I do not really want to keep the hard copy photographs because they are rather taking a lot of space to bring back with me to US. If I have a portable scanner, I will carry this device home with me to Malaysia and transfer all her classic photographs into digital forms. It may take a bit of time to scan all those photos. But afterwards, I can post the photos on her blog, or share online with my relatives and these photographs will not take up much space in my 160GB hard drive.
