Bought a new bunk bed to fit into our son’s bedroom. I actually wanted to buy a full/twin bunk bed but ended up with a twin/twin Ikea Hemnes Bunk Bed for $349 plus sales tax. As you know, the line for paying at Ikea always very long, especially in Ikea Carson. They have so few register. But we had no choice. We went early in the morning. Hubby drove SIL’s Toyota 4Runner to pick the boxes up. We were lucky and there was only a short wait for the boxes.
This Ikea furniture come in 2 boxes, one about 36″ square and another box approximately 70″ long. Both boxes are probably 3-4″ in thickness. Hubby was able to carry them by himself into the truck.
Back home, putting together wasn’t that difficult but require a lot of work. He and I were able to get it done in less than 2 hours. We stopped a bit in the middle as I had to put my son for his afternoon nap. Or else, we probably be able to finish even faster.
I like the color of this Hemnes Bunk Bed, since we had a toy check in the same color and material, they match well in the bedroom. Oh, the above picture is missing the security rail for the top bed and staircase as we didn’t want to install them at this time yet.

Hi,
I found your post whilst researching this bed, we purchased this bunk bed set when I was pregnant with my second child. My 18month old son slept in it for around a year, and last month one of the long side panels split entirely in two and he fell out of bed! I returned to Ikea but they refused any refund or exchange as it was out of guarantee!
I would now be very concerned about putting a child in the top bunk, and would advise you all to keep checking the sides of your bed!
I am very unhappy with the service we received from Ikea, as this is not a cheap bed!
Would appreciate any feedback from anyone else who has had problems!
thanks.
