This was our major purchase on Black Friday - a Trutech 19″ LCD/HDTV with built-in DVD player, from Target.  We were there at 6am sharp and there was already a crowd waiting for Target to open its front door.  It was hectic and crazy.  People were rushing towards the electronic and toy departments.Lucky for us, Hubby was able to grab 1 of this.  I had more items on my list but with a toddler on me and Hubby with the LCD, we couldn’t get into the crowded section.  I had to skipped my digital photo frame and portable DVD player. 

This high definition 19″ LCD/TV we bought for only $199, its regular price was $329.  Pretty good deal.  I still can’t believe we got this.  It is now placed in our dining area replacing our old 13″ analog and DVD player.  The picture is so clear, especially when we watching the HD channels.  But with an indoor antenna, the image still get scrambled at times. 

The DVD function on this LCD/TV is just a great addition to its already nice feature.  It helps us to save space without need a DVD player separately.  I probably need to adjust the brightness during DVD play as the screen seems too bright to me. 

Other than that, everything else is just perfect.  We haven’t tested it out with a computer for VGA output as we don’t have any extra computer to connect to this LCD/TV this time. 

Edit 2/17/08: The remote control became unusable last week and I thought it was because of the battery. I got some new AAA and yet the remote still didn’t function. I am guessing it is broken. Now I have to get in touch with the TruTech customer service if I can find their number or else I will return it to Target since it is still within the 90 days period. The last day to return will be 2/21/08.

Eidt: 2/18/2008: Everything works great until last week when the remote was suddenly not working. We put in new batteries but yet still not working. Although it is just the remote control having the problem but we never know. We love this LVD TV but we didn’t want it to break down on us in 6 months time. We saw/read a lot of bad reviews on this LCD TV on other sites.

And since we were still under the 90 days from Target, we decided to return this LCD TV to Target. We had the original packaging with us and packed it back into the box. Hubby took it back to Target and was asked what’s wrong with the unit, he told them the remote was not working. He was offered to exchange but we returned it instead. We may look to buy a better brand LCD TV that can last us for years and not just months. May be this time we will even get a unit bigger screen too.
