A few weeks back, a blogger friend of mine asked me to look for cereal bars for her son but I wasn’t able to find any before her package was mailed out to her. Only last week, I found out a kid from our toddler class eats cereal bars and asked his mom which brand was that. She told me she bought it from Trader Joe’s, their own brand. She even gave me an apple bar as sample so my son could have a taste of it before I go buy a box of them. Brandon loves it.

So I went out on Thursday and bought a box of Trader Joe’s ‘this Blueberry’ walks into a bar for him. It has 6 cereal bars in the box, each weighs 37g. The price per box is $1.69. There are other flavors as well including Apricots, Strawberry, Apple and Fig. They are made off organic ingredients. The nutrition value is attached below as a picture.

I find it a little too soft and hard for my son to hold it himself as he tends to smoosh the cereal bar while holding on it. But they are very delicious and I would eat them myself too.

Yesterday, while shopping at Walmart, I saw they have Earth Best Sesame Street Apple Cereal Bar for $2.12 per box. I bought a box. This box has 8 cereal bars, each weighs 19g (about half the size of Trader Joe’s cereal bar).

I read the nutrition fact before buying and found this brand provides higher source of Calcium, Iron and Zinc per bar than the Trader Joe’s brand. Below here is the nutrition fact for Earth Best Sesame Street Cereal Bars.

I think this will be a better choice of snack for toddler because of the added nutrition. The size is smaller but yet, more nurtitious. The level of sugar content is almost the same if you consider the same weigh. This brand’s cereal bar is slightly fimer than the Trader Joe’s brand thus is easier for toddler to feed themselve without making a big mess.
